Library Rules & Regulations

General Rules

  • Strict silence, decorum and discipline must be maintained in the library. Use of cell-phones is also not allowed

  • Smoking, eating, sleeping and talking loudly are strictly prohibited in the library

  • Documents taken out of the shelves must be left on the table. Replacing the books on shelves is not encouraged as it may get misplaced. Misplaced book is like a lost book

  • A non-member can use the library material on the premises with the permission of the Librarian.

  • Readers should not mark, underline, dog-ear, write, tear pages or otherwise damage the library documents.

  • Newspapers, magazines and journals must be read only in the library on specific tables and should not be taken to any other reading areas.

  • No library material can be taken out of the library without permission. Unauthorized removal of anything belonging to the library will be treated as theft and dealt accordingly.

  • Any one who violates the rules and regulations of the library would be liable to lose the privilege of library membership and may be debarred from using the library facilities.

  • Suggestions on all aspects, of library services are welcome.

  • The Library Rules framed above may be amended and new rules may be added to the existing ones by the Library Sub-committee as and when necessary and all these rules will be binding to all concerned .

Library Membership

  • All. faculty, staff and students of the institute are entitled to become library members

  • Membership is allowed only after submitting a duly filled in and signed membership form

  • The members are supposed to be conversant with and agreeable to the Library rules.

Loss / Damage of Library Books

  • In case of loss or damage of a book or any other reading materials, the member responsible for the loss/damage shall be required to replace the current edition of that document along with a charge of Rs. 15/- towards processing cost . If the book is out of print and not available in the market, the member will have to deposit 5 times the price of the latest available edition of that book along with a charge of Rs.15/- towards processing cost and all kinds of borrowing facilities for the member concerned will remain suspended till finalization of the matter.

Issue/Return Rules

  • Users are divided into the following categories - their entitlements, maximum number of books and number of days of issue is proposed in the following table .Instructors have the privileges to get the text books issued for the whole of the semester.

  • Full-time Faculty: Intake: 15 Books for 30 Days Late fees: Rs. 1 per day

  • Part-time Faculty: Intake: 8 Books for 30 Days Late fees: Rs. 1 per day

  • Non-teaching Staff: Intake: 5 Books for 30 Days Late fees: Rs. 1 per day

  • Students: Intake: (i) B.Com., B.A. and B.Sc (H) 2 Books for 15 Days Late fees: Rs. 1 per day

(ii) B.Com, B.A. and B.Sc(General) 1 Book for 15 Days Late fees: Rs. 1 per day

Renewal of books

Users can also renew the books again after the completion of charging period, subject to not being requested from some other user.

College Book Bank

Students may collect one book from College Book Bank for one academic year by submitting an application through the stipulated form. This form will be issued from college cash counter on payment of Rs 20(twenty). After 7 days of final examination they should return that book to the Library, otherwise the student will have to deposit fine as per library norms.
